Treatment Directors
Implementing evidence based practices, such as Motivational Interviewing, is among the greatest challenges facing substance use disorders treatment agencies. Agency and treatment directors need to understand the process of “technology transfer,” which guides the adoption and implementation of research-based approaches into the “real world” of service delivery. Issues such as funding, building an agency culture supportive of the new approaches, communicating the rationale and dealing with staff resistance to change, and establishing the integrity and fidelity of the implementation are all critical and are the subject of this section of the website.
